STEMed pre-market engagement event
NEUPC welcomed suppliers as part of their STEMed pre-market engagement event delivered by Matt Johnson, the STEMed and Labs Category Manager at NEUPC.
The event took place at the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University and was facilitated by Jiteen Ahmed, the current chair of UKUPC’s National STEMed Group and Head of Technical Services at Aston University.
All the major global suppliers and many specialist SMEs were invited, with circa 33 new and incumbent suppliers in attendance.
The key intention was to:
- Alert the market of the above opportunity
- Explain how consortia framework tendering works
- Inform suppliers of timelines
- Along with expectations and the reasoning for our carrying out this process.
It was particularly important for us to raise awareness of this opportunity for smaller or niche suppliers who may not be familiar with our sector or have less experience in bidding for public contracts.
The event was arranged as part of the pre-market engagement activities before launching the comprehensive retender of several currently separate but related framework agreements under one Life Sciences agreement: Life Science Equipment, Antibodies and Sera, Life Science Reagents, Kits and Consumables , and Molecular Biology Research Services.
The rationale for this activity is to simplify the sourcing and call off process for our members. This approach is to the benefit of all and will ensure that choice is maintained for our members whilst ensuring suppliers are able to offer their best solutions under a single route to market.
The agreement will be open to all UKUPC members including APUC, HEPCW, LUPC, NEUPC, NWUPC and SUPC.
