Success for the NEUPC Member Conference 2018

Success for the NEUPC Member Conference 2018

On the Tuesday 10th April, we held our third Member Conference, this year at the University of York Exhibition Centre. This year’s theme was “Positive Impacts”, focusing on the ways in which responsible procurement can have a real constructive influence on the sector and wider community. There were many exciting products on show from the exhibitors, as well as useful workshop sessions such as Brexit and GDPR which prepared the delegates for some interesting times ahead.

We received some very positive feedback this year from both delegates and suppliers:

“This was by far the best conference in terms of exhibition from the suppliers and location. The speakers have always been excellent”.

“The supplier fair was really good, probably the best layout that I have attended”.

“NEUPC staff were very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait for next year!”

The day began with a keynote speech led by one of the country’s top professional speakers, Philip Hesketh. Philip’s opening speech and workshop session focused on the psychology of influence and persuasion; as his audience were largely in Purchasing, he used his sales and psychology background to explain the tricks of the trade that procurement professionals will encounter during the buying process. Philip had the audience captivated with his imaginative anecdotes that had everyone engaging with the session.

Wider workshops further to Brexit preparation and GDPR Procurement Implications included sessions on Ethical and SME-Friendly Procurement, as well as Corporate Mental Strength and more, providing an array of opportunities for personal development.

Suppliers across the NEUPC category groups came from many areas of the country to take part in the conference exhibition, which proved to be a success with optimistic feedback across the board. Delegates were encouraged to visit at least ten stands, and many of them returned with their completed sticker passport for the prize draw, which was won by Yvonne Patrick of Leeds Trinity University who walked away with a £40 Love2shop voucher.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s conference, particularly the conference planning team, NEUPC staff, suppliers & sponsors, plus all members. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did – see you next year!
