NEUPC Member Conference 2017 was a great success!

NEUPC Member Conference 2017 was a great success!

On the 8th of February, we held our second Member Conference at Weetwood Hall in Leeds. This year’s theme was “The Future of Procurement” and, the day was full of innovative and futuristic products and services, brought by the exhibitors.  The day was a success and we received excellent feedback from our members who attended with 92% rating the day either good or excellent and 99% confirming they will be returning next year.

“It was great to get a thought provoking expert who was also entertaining like Keith Grint doing the keynote sessions”

“Amazing Staff! Always there to help and guide people”

“The short speech by the apprentice was really good to see/hear. Very impressed”

The aim of the conference was to provide an opportunity for our members to reflect on the changes that the Higher Education sector and country as a whole are facing, to consider how prepared the procurement industry is for these changes and also to provide an opportunity for delegates to network with other procurement professionals, share knowledge and discuss best practice.

The conference was kicked off with a keynote speech led by the fantastic Professor Keith Grint, from the University of Warwick. Professor Grint’s thought-provoking speech on “Wicked Problems” got delegates talking and introduced useful ways of viewing and dealing with the changing environment and the need to think about how to do things differently.

The conference was praised on the wide range of workshops on offer with top speakers in each of the areas discussed, including the hot topic of Brexit. Delegates said our workshops were well structured, and were glad to hear experiences from other industries.

We had a great mix of suppliers from different category groups, who brought along lots of interesting products and information on services they provide. We also ran a competition for those who brought the most futuristic product or service to the conference, with the prize being 1 months free advertising on the NEUPC website. NEUPC CEO Frank Rowell, was pleased to announce the winning exhibitor, Banner, in the closing speeches as well as the winner of the Banner golf putting competition, Myles Frodsham, who is part of the NEUPC Procurement Apprentice programme, who won an Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the conference a success, including the planning committee, NEUPC staff, supplier and our valued members. We hope to see you all again next year.
