NEUPC 2016-2018 Apprenticeship Programme (closed)

Apprenticeships

ABC Approved

From September 2016, NEUPC offered an exciting apprenticeship programme which aimed to bring new talent into our sector. Our first Apprentice programme provided the unique opportunity to join us across different areas of our business and undertake nationally recognised qualifications and workplace training whilst working in a challenging and exciting sector.

The Apprenticeship programme started in September 2016, and will run for approximately 18 months, during which time the students will work within a fast paced, busy environment. They will develop an understanding of the full procurement cycle, from identifying the need, developing specifications, tendering, contract management and supplier relationship management, whilst adhering to applicable EU or university procurement regulations to ensure that we buy the right product, at the right cost and at the right time. Typical day to day responsibilities may include placing orders with suppliers, chasing deliveries, liaising with users and suppliers to resolve issues and providing administration support to the Procurement Team

Meet the Apprentices...

“I thought being involved with the scheme would be a great way to start my career in Procurement and I can also gain qualifications whilst working”

“The opportunity to work in the University sector in a role with growing importance”.

“I have always been interested in Procurement and I wanted to do an Apprenticeship as I felt I learn best on the job”

The six NEUPC sponsored Procurement Apprentices commenced their employment with Universities in November 2016 and will undertake an 18 month programme of on the job training through the ABC Diploma and academic study through the CIPS Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations.

Whilst this scheme is now closed, we do have a new apprenticeship scheme which is aimed at those looking to study Level 4 CIPS qualifications.
